BlackRock: Bitcoin Surpasses Policy Debates as Safe-Haven Amid $40 Trillion US Debt
The US Treasury debt has surpassed $40 trillion, raising concerns about debt and deficits among investors. According to BlackRock's Head of Digital Assets Robbie Mitchnick, Bitcoin is emerging as a new safe-haven asset amid fiscal pressures.
Woofun AI data shows that federal debt reached $40.05 trillion as of August 18, more than doubling since 2017. With expenditures exceeding revenues, the government has been forced to borrow to cover the deficit, adding pressure on investors.
Mitchnick notes that debt and deficit levels are the market's primary concerns, and renewed attention to these risks is benefiting assets like Bitcoin and gold. He also highlights that interest payments have become an additional burden, with net interest expenditures expected to approach $1 trillion by 2025, accounting for more than 14% of total federal spending.
