BlackRock Bolsters Stablecoin Ecosystem with Tokenized Money Market Funds
BlackRock has made a significant move in its digital asset strategy by launching two tokenized money market products on the Ethereum blockchain. The new funds are designed to support the growing stablecoin ecosystem and align with the requirements of the U.S. GENIUS Act.
The world's largest asset manager introduced onchain shares of the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) and the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV). BRSRV is a tokenized investment product that offers daily dividend reinvestment and is accessible across multiple blockchain networks.
According to BlackRock, both funds are structured to qualify as reserve assets for permitted U.S. payment stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act. The firm's Chief Financial Officer Martin Small noted during the second-quarter 2026 earnings call that BlackRock already manages $60 billion in reserves for Circle and aims to become the preferred reserve manager for stablecoin issuers.
The move strengthens BlackRock's position in blockchain-based finance as demand for tokenized financial products continues to accelerate. The firm's Cash Management Group oversees nearly $1.073 trillion in cash strategies, positioning it to play a leading role in the growing intersection of traditional finance, blockchain technology, and digital asset infrastructure.
