BlackRock Brings Bitcoin Exposure to Canada via New ETFs
BlackRock Canada has launched two new exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the Canadian market, offering investors exposure to both traditional equities and Bitcoin. The iShares Equity + Bitcoin ETF Portfolio (IBQT) is a unique product that combines globally diversified equities with a 3% allocation to Bitcoin through BlackRock's Canadian iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT).
According to the source, IBQT holds approximately 97% of its portfolio in Canadian, US, international, and emerging-market equities. This exposure is provided primarily through other iShares ETFs that offer equity and Bitcoin exposure. The remaining 3% of the portfolio is allocated to Bitcoin.
The second fund launched by BlackRock Canada is the iShares Core MSCI All-International Equity Index ETF (XINT). This ETF tracks the MSCI ACWI ex North America IMI Index, providing exposure to over 5,000 companies across more than 40 developed and emerging markets outside Canada and the US.
Both funds are managed by BlackRock Asset Management Canada through the RBC iShares alliance. The asset management giant's US-listed iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) is reportedly the largest US spot Bitcoin ETF by assets under management, with approximately $47.9 billion in AUM as of June 30.
