Institutional buying of Bitcoin has become the norm, and BlackRock's latest figures demonstrate this shift in traditional finance. Between August 17 and 25, BlackRock clients purchased approximately $453.96 million worth of Bitcoin in a single transaction.

This is part of a larger trend of institutional accumulation that has led to significant increases in demand for digital assets. During the same period, total inflows across all spot Bitcoin ETFs reached around $3.3 to $3.52 billion in August 2026, with BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) capturing the majority of those flows.

IBIT currently holds around $59 to $60 billion in assets and accounts for more than 75% of daily spot Bitcoin ETF inflows. BlackRock does not speculate on Bitcoin, instead acting as a custodian for client demand expressed through purchases of IBIT shares.
