BlackRock Clients Pour $38M into ETH via Regulated ETF Wrappers
BlackRock's institutional clients invested $38.15 million in Ethereum on July 20, using regulated ETF wrappers rather than buying the token directly.
The bulk of this capital, approximately $34.3 million, went into BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA), while Fidelity's spot Ethereum product, FETH, picked up an additional $2.8 million.
This influx represents roughly 90% of total Ethereum ETF inflows on that day, with most of the remaining capital going into FETH.
The preference for ETF wrappers over direct token purchases reflects the needs and requirements of institutional investors, who must navigate compliance checklists, custodial requirements, and fiduciary obligations.
Buying ETHA through a brokerage account provides price exposure with the added benefits of custody, reporting, and tax infrastructure.
