BlackRock Clients Snap Up Record $122M in Ethereum On-Chain Transaction
Clients linked to BlackRock have purchased $122 million worth of Ethereum in a single transaction, marking the largest on-chain acquisition tied to the asset manager in seven months. This purchase is significant as it underscores continued institutional appetite for the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
The transaction, identified on-chain, is not a direct purchase made by BlackRock itself but rather a signal of demand from clients linked to the asset manager. Arkham, a blockchain intelligence firm, notes that observed blockchain activity should be viewed as a signal of demand from clients and not a confirmation of a proprietary $122 million Ethereum purchase by BlackRock.
The timing of this acquisition is also notable as institutional access to Ethereum through regulated investment products continues to expand. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust ETF, which trades under the ticker ETHA, reported approximately $5.65 billion in net assets as of August 10. The fund allows investors to gain exposure to Ether prices through traditional brokerage accounts without the complexities of direct crypto custody or wallet management.
