BlackRock Debuts Tokenized Stablecoin Reserve Fund on Solana
BlackRock has launched its first tokenized fund on Solana blockchain, called the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV). This new fund is designed for stablecoin reserve management and records ownership on three blockchains: Solana, Ethereum, and Tempo. The BRSRV fund invests only in cash, short-term Treasuries, and repurchase agreements backed by Treasuries.
This marks BlackRock's first use of Solana for a tokenized fund. The firm had previously used Ethereum for similar products. Jon Steel, who leads BlackRock's cash management product and platform team, said that the new funds give clients more ways to access money market investments across both traditional and digital markets.
The BRSRV fund has a minimum initial investment of $3 million and is aimed at institutions rather than individual investors. The company stated in its filing that the fund will not invest in any digital assets, including virtual currencies.
