BlackRock Enters Tokenized Money Market Sector with Solana and Ethereum Funds
BlackRock has expanded its on-chain cash management offerings by launching tokenized money market funds on the Solana and Ethereum blockchains. These new funds are designed for stablecoin reserves, allowing holders to earn returns on short-term Treasuries and cash.
The move marks an expansion of BlackRock's existing blockchain-based offerings, which already include a tokenized share class of the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) on Ethereum. This initiative aims to provide stablecoin issuers with regulated reserve assets that can yield returns on short-term Treasuries and cash.
As the world's largest asset manager, BlackRock's continued foray into blockchain-based financial products underscores a growing institutional interest in the tokenized money market sector.
