BlackRock ETF Rumor Sends ASTER Token into Brief Frenzy
The cryptocurrency market was briefly abuzz on Tuesday over a rumor that BlackRock planned to launch a 'Staked ASTER ETF'. A fabricated regulatory filing claiming this went viral, with some traders speculating that it could be a catalyst for growth in the ASTER token.
However, the claim was soon debunked by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who tweeted, 'Fake. Even big KOLs get fooled once in a while.' He also noted that ASTER 'does not need edited images to grow.'
The fake filing never appeared in SEC records and had no ties to BlackRock. The rumor's spread was largely due to the token's recent price action, which has been stuck in a narrow trading band between $0.90 and $0.95 for nearly three weeks.
