BlackRock Expands Tokenization with Solana and Ethereum Money Market Funds
BlackRock has launched two new tokenized money market funds on the Solana and Ethereum blockchain, expanding its presence in the digital asset space. The BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV) is a stablecoin reserve management fund that records ownership on Solana, Ethereum, and Tempo.
The fund invests entirely in cash and short-term U.S. Treasury securities, with no investments in cryptocurrencies or digital assets. The minimum initial investment is $3 million, and the fund is structured to qualify as an eligible reserve asset under the GENIUS Act.
This launch builds on BlackRock's broader tokenization strategy, which includes its existing BUIDL tokenized money market fund that manages over $2.6 billion in assets. The move follows other major financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley and Fidelity, which have introduced similar products aimed at stablecoin reserve management.
According to Jon Steel, Global Head of Product and Platform for BlackRock's Cash Management business, 'cash remains a foundational building block for investors, corporations, and financial institutions.' He noted that demand is growing for high-quality reserve assets to support stablecoins and other tokenized financial products, which these funds aim to address.
