Blackrock Launches Two Tokenized Money Market Funds for Institutional Investors
Blackrock has expanded its tokenization offerings with two new money market funds designed for institutional investors and stablecoin issuers. The funds, BSTBL and BRSRV, combine blockchain-based ownership records with portfolios of cash and short-term U.S. government debt.
The launch targets a growing intersection between regulated money market funds and blockchain-based finance. U.S. money market fund assets have exceeded $8.4 trillion as investors prioritize liquidity, capital preservation, and yield, according to Blackrock.
Blackrock's global head of cash-management product and platform, Jon Steel, stated that 'cash remains a foundational building block for investors, corporations, and financial institutions.' He added that the funds provide clients with additional choice in how they access and use money market fund investment solutions across traditional and digital markets.
