BlackRock Loosens Bitcoin Swap Threshold for IBIT

BlackRock has made it easier for large Bitcoin holders to convert their coins into shares of its exchange-traded fund, IBIT. The minimum amount required for this swap has been lowered from $25 million to $1 million, according to a Bloomberg report.

This change allows a wider group of investors to take advantage of the in-kind creation process, which enables them to transfer their Bitcoin directly into IBIT shares without selling it first.

BlackRock's head of digital assets, Robbie Mitchnick, told Bloomberg that the company has processed over $5 billion in these swaps, with more than $60.65 billion in net assets as of August 25.

Mitchnick attributed this trend to fear among investors, who are increasingly choosing to move their coins into regulated funds due to concerns about security risks.
