BlackRock Lowers Minimum for Large-Scale Bitcoin Swaps
BlackRock has made it easier for large Bitcoin holders to swap their coins into shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust. The asset manager lowered the minimum amount required for conversions from $25 million to just $1 million in July 2026.
This change opens up the option to a wider group of wealthy investors, allowing them to transfer their existing Bitcoin holdings into the fund without having to sell and then buy ETF shares separately. This process, known as an in-kind creation, can lower trading costs and cut out extra steps.
BlackRock's fund has already processed over $5 billion in these swaps since they became possible in July 2025. According to Robbie Mitchnick, head of digital assets at BlackRock, the new minimum will make it even easier for large holders to take advantage of this option.
