BlackRock Powers Up Ethereum Staking with Nasdaq Filing
BlackRock has submitted an SEC filing to add staking capabilities to its Ethereum ETF through Nasdaq. This move is seen as a significant boost for Ethereum staking, with the largest Ethereum ETF by holdings, ETHA, managing over $7.9 billion in assets.
The filing proposes that all or part of the trust's Ethereum holdings will be staked through trusted providers like Coinbase. Staking approval could come as early as Q4 2025, with a final deadline set for April 2026.
BlackRock's ETHA led the way in Ethereum ETF inflows this week, with $499 million pouring into the fund on Wednesday. This represents the highest daily inflow of the year so far, with eight out of nine Ethereum funds experiencing positive flows.
Bloomberg analysts expect staking approval to be a key next step for crypto ETF evolution, and this move from BlackRock could signal a significant shift in the industry.
