BlackRock Sees Growing Interest in Bitcoin Amid Rising US Debt
BlackRock's head of digital assets, Robert Mitchnick, sees growing interest in Bitcoin due to its appeal as a hedge against rising US federal debt and increasing interest payments. The US government's fiscal health is worsening, with its debt exceeding $40 trillion. According to Mitchnick, assets like Bitcoin that are outside government control become more attractive as the government's fiscal health worsens.
Mitchnick notes that despite Bitcoin's recent price drop from a 2025 peak, institutional interest in Bitcoin is increasing. This increase is driven by traditional asset managers and new Bitcoin ETFs.
Regulatory clarity is less of a factor for Bitcoin compared to other crypto sectors, with macroeconomic concerns taking precedence. Investors are watching ETF inflows as signs of growing institutional commitment to Bitcoin.
