BlackRock Slashes Conversion Threshold for Bitcoin-to-IBIT Swaps
BlackRock has significantly lowered its minimum threshold for eligible Bitcoin holders to convert their assets into shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, or IBIT. As of July 2026, this minimum will be $1 million, a reduction from the previous $25 million.
This change is part of BlackRock's efforts to make its conversion service more accessible to wealthy investors and institutions. The company has already processed over $5 billion in Bitcoin swaps through this process.
Robbie Mitchnick, head of digital assets at BlackRock, stated that the 96% reduction in minimum threshold will continue to drive growth in conversions. He noted that people are motivated to transfer their holdings due to security concerns and a desire for regulated financial products.
