BlackRock Snubs XRP ETF in Favor of BTC and ETH

BlackRock's decision to leave XRP behind in its crypto offerings has raised eyebrows among market observers. The financial giant, which manages nearly 500 traditional funds, is instead focusing on Bitcoin and Ethereum. According to Nate Geraci, president of The ETF Store, this position is 'highly risky.'

Geraci argues that BlackRock's behavior suggests it believes no other crypto assets have enough value. This assessment may be supported by the company's actions, as recent data shows it withdrawing $312 million from Coinbase Prime in a single day. Of this amount, $282 million went to its flagship Bitcoin fund IBIT.

The XRP ETF market is currently too small for BlackRock, with total net assets standing at just $1.40 billion compared to the $98.63 billion managed by Bitcoin ETFs and $15.13 billion held by Ethereum ETFs. BlackRock's executives have stated that their goal is to help conservative investors gain exposure to these two assets.

The company appears to be taking a strategic approach, allowing competitors to test demand for XRP ETFs while it continues to dominate the market with its established products. If the XRP ETF market proves its financial maturity and liquidity, BlackRock may enter it at any time and take the lead.
