BlackRock Sticks to Its Guns on Bitcoin, Sees Long-Term Potential
BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has reaffirmed its bullish stance on Bitcoin despite a 50% drop in value from its peak last year. The firm believes that Bitcoin's core investment thesis as an important global monetary alternative and a distinct portfolio diversifier remains unchanged.
In a recent report, Robert Mitchnick, BlackRock's head of digital assets, attributed the recent selloff in Bitcoin to deleveraging within the digital-asset market and shifts in capital flows. He noted that any short-term tendency for Bitcoin to move in tandem with risk assets is a temporary effect of deleveraging rather than a structural shift.
BlackRock maintains that Bitcoin's low correlation with traditional risk assets over the long term remains intact, making it an attractive potential hedge against declines in fiat-currency values. The firm sees Bitcoin as a strategic portfolio diversification tool for long-term investors, offering a unique opportunity to balance their portfolios and mitigate risk.
