BlackRock Tokenizes $311B Money Market Funds in Europe
BlackRock has made significant strides in tokenizing traditional finance products by launching tokenized money market funds in Europe. The move allows investors to transfer holdings around the clock directly between approved digital wallets.
The world's largest asset manager, BlackRock, is expanding its blockchain use in traditional finance with tokenized versions of select Institutional Cash Series funds, which together manage $311 billion in assets. This marks a major expansion of institutional blockchain adoption and brings cash management products onto digital infrastructure.
Each digital token represents a share in the underlying money market fund, allowing for peer-to-peer transfers appealing to corporates managing intra-company payments. The tokenization infrastructure is provided through JPMorgan's Kinexys platform, with JPMorgan continuing as transfer agent for the funds.
