BlackRock Under Pressure to Launch Spot XRP ETF Amid Industry Scrutiny
BlackRock, one of the largest exchange-traded fund managers globally, is facing calls to launch a spot XRP ETF. The company's current lineup of around 500 ETFs does not include an XRP-based offering, despite XRP being among the leading digital assets.
Former BlackRock executive Robbie Mitchnick brought his knowledge of XRP to Ripple after leaving the company in 2018. While at BlackRock, he co-authored a study with Susan Athey that analyzed XRP's network characteristics and estimated its fair market value at $4,813 in 2018.
Industry voices, including Geraci, question BlackRock's ETF strategy, attributing their cautious approach to the company's track record of ETF success. However, they also note that this lack of diversification may be a risk in itself.
Digital Asset Investor suggests that BlackRock could launch a spot XRP ETF at any time, should the firm perceive favorable conditions or increased institutional demand for XRP exposure.
