BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have seen a significant shift in the second quarter of 2026, according to SEC documents. The funds experienced net outflows of $3.5 billion, a stark contrast to the $13.9 billion increase in Q2 2025.

The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) saw a net contraction of $2.9 billion, with contributions linked to new share issuances totaling $4.3 billion and redemptions reaching $7.2 billion. The Ethereum fund ETHA also showed a decrease, with share creations amounting to $943.3 million and distributions associated with redeemed shares reaching $1.5 billion.

The annual comparison revealed a gap of $17.4 billion between the two periods, highlighting the change in institutional behavior. Authorized participants can now perform certain creations and redemptions in kind, which may have contributed to the large volume of 106,148 BTC associated with share redemptions.
