BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs See Massive Shift in Investor Behavior

BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced a significant shift in investor behavior during Q2 2026. The funds saw net outflows of $3.5 billion, reversing a $13.9 billion inflow from the same quarter in 2025.

This represents a substantial annual shift of $17.4 billion, as investors moved from strong accumulation to redemptions. The Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) alone accounted for $2.9 billion in net redemptions, while the Ethereum ETF (ETHA) had $583.4 million in net outflows.

The reversal is notable, but some analysts point out that not all Bitcoin involved in redemptions were sold on the market due to in-kind transfers. This may indicate a cautious approach by investors, rather than a complete sell-off.
