BlackRock's Crypto Holdings Soar by $15B in August on Bitcoin and Ethereum Rally
BlackRock's cryptocurrency holdings surged by more than $15 billion in August as Bitcoin and Ethereum prices rallied. The asset manager's digital asset portfolio expanded to $68.48 billion as of August 31, up from $53.36 billion at the start of the month.
The growth was largely driven by BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) and spot Ethereum ETF (ETHA). IBIT holdings increased to $60.35 billion from $47.69 billion, while ETHA holdings rose to $8.12 billion from $5.67 billion.
August proved to be a strong month for the broader cryptocurrency market, with Bitcoin recovering from early-month volatility and posting significant gains. Ethereum also rallied, supported by increased institutional interest and network activity.
