BlackRock's Giant BTC Transfer Sparks Fears of Institutional Sell-Off

Bitcoin's recent decline to $63,524 has left bulls on edge as BlackRock's large transfer of BTC sparks concerns. The asset plummeted by 2.8% in a single day, while its volume surged 72% to $28 billion.

The price drop was largely driven by institutional investors shifting their sentiment, with BlackRock leading the charge. According to Onchain Lens, the company moved over $271 million worth of crypto to Coinbase Prime, which mostly signals preparation to sell. Historically, when BlackRock moves tokens to exchanges, they are later sold.

This transfer coincides with a fresh shift in Bitcoin's ETF inflow, where spot ETFs have flipped bearish again. After signaling a return in institutional demand, ETFs have seen net outflows of $476 million over the period, with none recording inflows. This suggests that major institutional players are dumping BTC.

U.S. investors' influence on this trend is evident, as the Coinbase Premium Index has remained negative throughout July. The extended period in the negative zone indicates that institutions have chased out even the slightest gains. Historically, Bitcoin performs poorly when institutions pull out capital.
