BlackRock's IBIT Dominates US Bitcoin ETF Market with Over $63 Billion in Net Inflows
The US Bitcoin ETF market has been carried by BlackRock's IBIT fund since its launch in January 2024. According to Farside Investors' fund ledger, IBIT collected over $63.9 billion in cumulative net inflows through September 3, 2026.
This is a staggering amount, especially when compared to the entire US spot Bitcoin ETF group, which kept only $55.5 billion. The remaining funds outside of IBIT saw combined net outflows of $8.4 billion.
The dominance of IBIT can be attributed to its ability to draw in large sums of money, with $2.843 billion of the group's $3.655 billion inflows coming from August 17 through September 3. This represents a significant concentration, with IBIT carrying the category during positive sessions and offsetting redemptions elsewhere.
The fact that IBIT has supplied every dollar the US fund group retained, plus enough to offset net exits from all of its rivals, makes it the buyer of last resort in the market. This is a unique situation, as traditional central banks serving as buyers of last resort have public mandates and can create money.
