BlackRock's IBIT Surges Past Grayscale in Asset Value After Spot ETF Launch
BlackRock's Institutional Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has reached $60.62 billion in assets, surpassing Grayscale's GBTC by nearly $51 billion after spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in January 2024.
The massive shift follows the launch of these new products, which offer lower fees compared to traditional investment trusts like GBTC.
IBIT boasts a 0.25% expense ratio, while GBTC carries a 1.50% fee, making IBIT an attractive option for investors seeking cost savings.
In the first few months of this year, IBIT pulled in about $16.6 billion in inflows, whereas GBTC experienced net outflows of around $17.9 billion since January 11.
The disparity in inflows and outflows can be attributed to the significant difference in fees between the two products.
