BlackRock's Mitchnick: CLARITY Act 'Less Critical' for Bitcoin
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen a reversal in fortunes, ending a nine-day inflow streak that brought in $2.8 billion. The CLARITY Act, which aims to provide clarity on digital asset regulation, has been deemed less critical for Bitcoin than other crypto categories by Robert Mitchnick, BlackRock's head of digital assets.
Mitchnick stated that institutional investors are not treating additional legislation as a base case for Bitcoin investment, viewing regulatory progress as potential upside rather than a requirement. This distinction highlights the differing regulatory landscapes between Bitcoin and more complex crypto categories like DeFi.
Bitcoin's recent rally while equities struggled is attributed to its distinct risk and return drivers, according to Mitchnick. He also noted that younger demographics are favoring Bitcoin over gold as a store-of-value asset, while investors concerned about global debt and deficits are increasingly drawn to it.
