BlackRock's New Bitcoin Fund Pays You to Wait

The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (NASDAQ:IBIT) has been tracking spot Bitcoin at institutional scale, but it's come at a cost. Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT is down 44.19% over the past year, mirroring the decline of Bitcoin itself.

Holders who invested in IBIT for clean and cheap Bitcoin exposure got what they were looking for, but also experienced the full downside of Bitcoin's volatility. BlackRock has introduced a new product that changes this math: the iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (NASDAQ:BITA), which launched on June 9, 2026.

BITA holds Bitcoin exposure through spot Bitcoin ETFs and writes call options against it to collect premiums from option buyers. This strategy generates monthly income for holders, rather than leaving their investment idle during a downturn.
