BLAKE2b Blockchain Set to Launch on September 1 Amid Bitcoin Hard Fork

A new blockchain using the BLAKE2b proof-of-work algorithm is set to launch on September 1, following the failure of the BIP-110 minority branch.

The original BIP-110 aimed to limit nonfinancial data on Bitcoin but did not propose changing the mining algorithm. The new chain will be a hard fork with a different mining system, requiring new hardware and lacking support from major exchanges, wallets, or Lightning implementations so far.

Its success depends on attracting miners and infrastructure support, and it faces technical challenges like replay protection and wallet compatibility.
