Block Boosts 2026 Forecast as Q2 Earnings Exceed Expectations
Block, the fintech company founded by Jack Dorsey, has revised its forecast for 2026 after reporting strong financials in Q2. The company's gross profit increased by 25% year-over-year to $3.17 billion, with adjusted operating income reaching $863.8 million, surpassing Wall Street's consensus forecast of 87 cents.
The bitcoin ecosystem revenue generated $1.89 billion for Block, but its gross profit fell by 31% to $72 million due to reduced fees on Bitcoin transactions via Cash App and a slowdown in the primary cryptocurrency market. The company also recorded an unrealized loss of $88.5 million on its BTC reserve.
Block continues to develop cryptocurrency products, adding support for USDC on Cash App and enabling stablecoin transactions across multiple blockchains. In June, the company introduced Builderbot, an AI tool for software development automation, which created about 15% of the company's total code at that time.
