Blockchain.com, a London-headquartered firm founded in 2011, has launched brokerage operations in Ghana. The move follows significant growth in Nigeria, where transaction volumes have risen by over 700% since early last year when the company began retail services.

The company cites organic demand from Ghana, with active users increasing 140% and transaction volumes rising 80% on its platform over the past year.

Blockchain.com has established local compliance representation in Ghana and is working with regulators to develop a domestic cryptocurrency framework. The company also plans to integrate mobile money systems, given their widespread use in the country.

Owen Odia, general manager for Africa at Blockchain.com, noted that Nigeria's growth demonstrates 'immense potential for digital assets across the African region.'
