Blockchain.com Expands into Ghana with Plans for African Expansion
Blockchain.com has launched brokerage operations in Ghana, marking its expansion into the African market. This move follows significant growth in Nigeria, where transaction volumes have increased by over 700% since the company began retail services there last year.
The London-headquartered firm already operates across more than 70 jurisdictions and plans to continue expanding into additional African markets. Ghana showed organic demand before the formal launch, with active users from the country increasing 140% over the past year, and transaction volumes rising 80% on Blockchain.com's platform.
Blockchain.com has established local compliance representation in Ghana and is discussing a domestic cryptocurrency framework with regulators. Mobile money integration is a priority, given the widespread use of mobile payment systems across the country.
