Blockchain.com Expands to Ghana Amid African Crypto Boom
Blockchain.com has expanded its operations to Ghana, just months after reporting a significant increase in transaction volume in Nigeria.
The London-based company launched brokerage operations in Ghana on March 9 and cited over 700% growth in transaction volume in Nigeria since the start of last year. According to Blockchain.com, active users from Ghana increased by 140% over the past year, with a corresponding rise in transaction volumes of 80%.
The company has established local compliance representation in Ghana and is engaging with regulators to help develop a domestic cryptocurrency framework.
Owen Odia, general manager for Africa at Blockchain.com, stated that Nigeria's performance over the past year demonstrated 'immense potential for digital assets across the African region.'
