Blockchain IPOs Gain Momentum as CZ Predicts Tokenization Takes Hold
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) predicts that traditional initial public offerings (IPOs) will move entirely onto the blockchain. According to him, tokenizing public offerings would provide companies with round-the-clock liquidity, seamless interoperability with decentralized finance protocols, and direct access to global retail capital.
CZ's forecast is supported by the pre-market explosion of trading volumes in on-chain derivatives tied to shares of Anthropic, a developer of artificial intelligence technology. Pre-IPO derivative trading volumes have surged into the millions just a month before Anthropic's official listing on Wall Street.
The total market capitalization of tokenized stocks and ETFs is around $3 billion, while Binance's bStocks platform holds 21% of this segment ($627.5 million). The traditional U.S. stock market has a capitalization exceeding $55 trillion, with average daily trading turnover on the New York Stock Exchange standing at $100-150 billion.
Anthropic's pre-IPO boom is fueled by strong fundamentals, including reaching $65 billion in annualized revenue by the end of summer and posting its first operating profit. Pre-market trading volumes have entered a phase of explosive growth, with the ANTHROPICUSDT contract on Binance standing at 2,012.50 USDT, and daily trading volume at $21.1 million.
