Blockchain Key to Defining Ownership in Agentic AI Systems, Says Animoca Brands Co-Founder
Animoca Brands' co-founder Yat Siu thinks blockchain is key to defining ownership in agentic AI systems. Speaking at WebX Asia, he estimated that 50-100 billion AI agents could emerge in the near future.
The event drew 13,641 participants from over 90 countries and discussed the shift of AI from a tool that responds to prompts into something that acts independently. Siu argued that these agentic AI systems need their own crypto wallets and ownership frameworks, as the value they generate currently flows back to centralized platforms.
Animoca Brands is already testing this thesis internally through its Animoca Minds division, which operates hundreds of AI agents. The discussion also touched on intellectual property and regulatory considerations in a panel titled 'AI, IP, and the Future of Policy.'
