Blockchain Networks Challenge Ethereum's Dominance
Solana and Avalanche are positioning themselves as major competitors to Ethereum through their focus on speed and network efficiency. The Solana blockchain has been upgraded with a new consensus system, known as Alpenglow, which is designed to improve confirmation performance. This upgrade is set to be completed in 2026.
Avalanche, on the other hand, is taking a different approach by allowing separate Layer 1 blockchains that can be designed for specific applications. The Avalanche9000 upgrade has reduced barriers for launching these networks, giving developers more flexibility when building blockchain infrastructure for specialized use cases.
Sui has also emerged as another player in the high-performance Layer 1 market, with its architecture focusing on rapid transaction processing and parallel execution. Sui's Mysticeti V2 development aims to further improve confirmation times, making it a strong contender for applications that require responsive blockchain infrastructure.
