Blockchain Networks See Rising Activity and Falling Fees Amid Crypto Market Turbulence
The Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche blockchains have experienced significant growth in transaction volume over the past year, despite token prices falling by about half. According to Pluang, Ethereum's transactions rose from 121.1 million to 203.9 million, with costs dropping from $1.08 to $0.31 per transaction. Solana and Avalanche showed similar trends, with Avalanche's transactions increasing fourfold and costs plunging.
The improvements are attributed to protocol upgrades expanding blockspace, not reduced demand. Staking remains strong, especially on Ethereum with a record 40.2 million ETH staked. This indicates robust blockchain infrastructure and growing institutional interest.
