Blockchain Networks See Surge in Activity Despite Token Price Drops
The Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche blockchain networks have experienced significant increases in transaction volumes over the past year. However, their native tokens, ETH, SOL, and AVAX, have dropped by 50% or more in value during the same period.
This decline is linked to lower transaction fees caused by protocol upgrades, which make blockspace cheaper and reduce the revenue that accrues to token holders.
Analysts suggest that future token price gains depend on whether increased usage can offset lower fees. Metrics like fee revenue, staking rewards funded by fees, and collateral holdings are better indicators of token demand than transaction counts alone.
