Blockchains Draw Parallels with Fast Food Chains: Cathie Wood Optimistic
Cathie Wood and Ark Invest are optimistic about blockchains, seeing parallels between them and established fast food chains. The comparison is made by Lorenzo Valiente, Director of Research at Ark Invest, who analyzed Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Hyperliquid (HYPE) as distinct business models.
Valiente noted that Ethereum maps to McDonald's Corp.'s (MCD) business model, where the brand owns the operating system, including standards like ERC-20, and the 'real estate', blockspace plus Layer 1 settlement guarantee. Solana was compared to Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG), with all activity concentrated on its Layer 1 chain. Hyperliquid was likened to In-N-Out Burger, privately held and focusing on a small menu.
Wood said that Valiente's analysis provides a 'digestible framework' for understanding the different business models. She added that blockchains have been around for more than a decade and more will launch.
