Blockstream Denies Paying Ransom for Stolen BTC
Blockstream has refused to pay a ransom to recover $47 million in Bitcoin that was stolen from the Liquid decentralized exchange (DEX) during a hack last year.
In an interview, Blockstream's CEO stated that paying the ransom would be 'theft' and that the company will not engage with the hackers.
The incident occurred on January 5, when hackers exploited a vulnerability in the Liquid protocol to steal approximately $47 million in BTC. The stolen funds are currently held by an unknown entity who is demanding a ransom for their return.
