Blockstream Draws Hard Line on Ransom Demands from Liquid Hackers

Blockstream has announced it will not negotiate with hackers who exploited the Liquid Network and currently hold 598 BTC.

The hackers, self-described as 'white-hat' actors, withdrew approximately 4,000 BTC from the federation wallet on September 6, but returned 3,400 BTC after Blockstream patched affected bridge nodes.

Blockstream views the remaining assets as still improperly held and subject to legal and investigative processes, rather than as an outstanding item to be settled through further payments.

The company has stated it will involve law enforcement, exchanges, service providers, and forensic specialists if the outstanding assets are not returned voluntarily.
