Blockstream Refuses Ransom Demand for Stolen Liquid Network Funds
Blockstream has refused to pay a ransom demand from an exploiter who hacked the Liquid Network, stealing around 598.5 BTC.
The company said it would not cave in to the attacker's demands and instead urged them to return the funds voluntarily.
In a statement on Friday, Blockstream emphasized that 'taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure.'
The incident occurred on Sept. 8, when an exploiter took advantage of a vulnerability in the caching of range proof verifications in Elements, the underlying software used to run the Liquid Network.
