Blockstream Swaps Offers Trustless Movement Between Bitcoin Networks
Blockstream has announced Blockstream Swaps, a new feature that enables users to make trustless swaps between the main Bitcoin network and the Lightning Network. This comes on the heels of non-custodial swap provider Boltz suspending its service due to vulnerabilities found by attackers using AI.
The idea behind Blockstream Swaps is to allow users to move funds across layers without losing control over their assets. To use Lightning, users do not need to run a node or channel and can simply hold a Bitcoin or LBTC balance for the swap to convert at the moment of payment.
LBTC is the native asset of the Liquid Network, a Bitcoin layer-2 sidechain created by Blockstream. The company emphasizes that this initiative complements existing providers rather than replacing them.
