Blockstream's Bitcoin Treasury Plans Collide with Reality

Adam Back's plans for Blockstream (BSTR) to become a public Bitcoin treasury company have come to an end. The company, which was set to merge with Cantor Equity Partners I, a special-purpose acquisition company, has terminated the agreement. As a result, BSTR faces a $15 million termination payment schedule.

The first $10 million is due on or before September 19, and the remaining $5 million must be paid by December 1. If Blockstream Capital Partners is requested to make the payment instead of BSTR, it will have to cover the amount.

Failure to meet these deadlines could lead to the automatic voiding of legal protections granted by Cantor Equity Partners I and its affiliates.
