Blockstream's Liquid Network Hit by $340 Million Crypto Heist

A major cryptocurrency security breach occurred after a hacker stole approximately $340 million in Bitcoin from Blockstream's Liquid Network, one of the year's largest crypto thefts. The network was temporarily paused while technical teams addressed vulnerabilities.

The attacker exploited an underlying technical flaw to extract thousands of Bitcoins from a network wallet before returning the vast majority of the digital assets following security patches.

Blockstream confirmed the breach via social media channels, announcing that network operations were immediately paused while engineers deployed emergency fixes. Industry observers noted that the individual responsible operated under white hat hacker conditions, returning roughly 3,400 of the nearly 4,000 stolen Bitcoins once the software bug was successfully resolved.
