BlueWallet Lets Users Inject Own Randomness with Manual Entropy

BlueWallet has released version 8.0.0, which includes a new feature that allows users to inject their own randomness into the wallet creation process.

This manual entropy feature is available in Advanced mode during wallet setup and lets users input entropy through coin flips or rolls of either 6-sided or 20-sided dice.

The target is 256 bits of entropy, which is the standard threshold for generating a secure Bitcoin seed phrase.

If a user's manual input falls short of that 256-bit target, the app automatically fills the gap using the device's system RNG.

This move is significant because it addresses skepticism about software RNGs in the Bitcoin community, which has been having this conversation since at least 2020.
