BNB Chain Activates BNB Pasteur Hardfork 2026 with Focus on Network Security

The BNB Pasteur Hardfork 2026 upgrade is set to activate on August 25, 2026, at 02:30 AM UTC on the BSC mainnet. This update focuses on network protection and validator integrity rather than reducing block times further.

BNB Chain has released a series of updates in 2026, with Fermi speeding up block times to 450 milliseconds in January, followed by Osaka and Mendel locking that pace in April. The upgrades aim to improve execution efficiency and handle heavy throughput safely.

The BNB Pasteur Hardfork 2026 changes include BEP-682, which eliminates duplicate validator signatures during cross-chain bridge verification; BEP-695, which ensures retired validator keys lose their authority; and BEP-675, allowing block builders to submit pre-executed blocks. These enhancements aim to improve daily operations on the BNB chain.

The upgrade has already shown promising results in testnet, with throughput increasing from around 1,237 TPS to 2,324 TPS. Regular users and app developers do not need to take any action during the upgrade, as wallets will remain unchanged and contracts will not require redeployment.
