BNB Chain and Solana Join Debate Over Sustainable Blockchain Business Models
A debate over network economics has expanded into a wider discussion about how blockchains fund long-term growth, according to Nina Rong, Executive Director of Growth at BNB Chain.
Rong argued that sustainable business models should take priority, shifting attention from immediate transaction costs to financial structures supporting network development.
The exchange began after Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko remarked on September 4 that Robinhood's 10% revenue share with Arbitrum could have covered Solana transaction fees four times over, potentially allowing Robinhood to offer gasless transactions.
Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder responded by saying: 'On Arbitrum, Robinhood keeps 90% of gas fees. On Solana they would retain 0 and any gas fees they subsidized would come out of pocket.'
