BNB Chain Dethrones Solana in DeFi TVL Showdown
BNB Chain has reclaimed its position as the second-largest decentralized finance (DeFi) chain by total value locked (TVL), surpassing Solana. According to DeFiLlama data, BNB Chain's TVL is approximately $5.935 billion, while Solana's TVL is around $5.887 billion, with a gap of just $48 million between the two.
The second-place ranking in DeFi TVL has been volatile throughout 2025 and 2026, with Solana briefly pulling ahead as recently as July 2026. BSC, Solana, Base, and Tron all cluster in the $5-6 billion TVL range, making the battle for positioning particularly volatile.
BNB Chain has reportedly added over $3.6 billion in RWA value throughout 2026, outpacing Solana's $2.6 billion growth in the same category, according to CryptoRank data. PancakeSwap, the chain's flagship decentralized exchange, remains the single largest contributor to BNB Chain's TVL.
