BNB Chain Fires Back at Unauthorized Meme Token

Instruments

Share

A former employee of BNB Chain has been accused of using company resources to launch an unauthorized meme token on the network. The token was created using a wallet address and seed phrase originally generated for internal educational content.

According to BNB Chain, the employee left the company and took the seed phrase with them, leaving behind no way for the company to revoke access to the associated wallet.

The company has issued a formal statement making its non-involvement in the token clear and intends to pursue legal action against the former employee.

BNB Chain's support of meme tokens on its network has been seen as a key effort to drive user growth, but this incident highlights the potential risks of insider access failures and inadequate credential management after employee departures.
